“caffè di moka” the Italian way. The “caffè di moka” is
what we generally drink at home, and its preparation is indeed a
small, daily ritual. A “caffè” is also the first thing you'd
offer to a guest. However, if you order a “caffè” in a bar, what
you'll have is an espresso.
The first “moka” was patented in 1933 by Luigi De Ponti for
Alfonso Bialetti. The character in these drawings, the “omino coi
baffi” (literally, “little man with the moustache”), is
very-well known all over Italy, and it has been created by cartoonist
Paul Campani.
